In the highly sought-after New Forest, just two hours from London and close to the coast and the Isle of Wight, Boundary Cottage is a picturesque property with a cedar shake roof that stands in the grounds of a larger thatched house, and benefits from its own secluded garden, drive and secure off-road parking area.

Boundary House and its cottage, set in three acres are not visible from the lane that leads to them and therefore very private (see our ariel video on the next page). Beyond the cottage garden are open fields where horses graze; at the front, across Furzey Lane, is open heath, typical of the New Forest landscape: 145 square miles of unchanged hunting ground dating back to William the Conquerer where ponies, donkeys, pigs, cattle and deer still roam free.

The charming village of Beaulieu is just a mile away and it’s two miles to Buckler’s Hard, beautifully set on the Beaulieu River. Closer still is East Boldre, where you’ll find a well-stocked village shop and a good pub, The Turfcutter's Arms. The lane on which Boundary House stands leads into Rans Wood, from where miles of walks in all directions begin, starting at a little bridge and stream, perfect for woodland picnics.

From the gravel drive (tight for two cars, please contact owner in advance) a front door flanked by two bay trees leads into the hallway and kitchen, a light space thanks to its glass roof, where you will find everything you need, including a large red retro fridge and Nespresso machine. The hallway leads to the airy sitting room, warmed by a gas log stove, with dining table and chairs in the bay window.

There are two sofas and an armchair and a large kelim covered coffee table, as well as a 40-inch HD TV and DVD player and Roberts digital radio with iPod dock and WiFi. At the rear is the garden-facing bathroom and the master bedroom, with Hypnos bed fitted with an electric blanket and furniture by Oka, plus plenty of storage along a wall of shelves and hanging space, bedside tables with lamps and a retro style DAB radio. French doors lead to the covered terrace and the garden.
